ShamRock School of Music CampPerforming in front of others is an important part of learning to sing or play a musical instrument.  With our “Opportunity Rocks” program, students taking lessons at ShamRock always have the opportunity to perform at recitals and open mic nights throughout the year.  This is included in the tuition.

But for students who want to learn how to perform in a band, with others at a similar skill level, we have specialized programs all year long.  Students will learn the concepts of rhythm, timing and melody in working with their peers.  Our camp instructors Vince Genella and Roy Van Tassel have over 40 years of rock performance experience combined.  Our Jazz program instructors, Erica Seguine and Shannon Baker both hold masters degrees in Jazz Composition from William Paterson University.  Bands will set a goal of performing 3-6 songs in a concert in front of friends and family at the end of the program.

Students will learn how to apply their musical skills in a rock band environment, performing 3-6 rock songs by the end of the week. Every type of instrument at any skill level can be included!  Just contact us for details to see which program best fits your needs.

Most camps include the following:

  • ShamRock T Shirt
  • Snacks, soft drinks, juices, water or coffee
  • Team building games and exercises
  • Rock & Jazz history discussions by reviewing videos on our HD flatscreen
  • Choosing a band name
  • 10-15 hours of rehearsal time in our studio
  • Lyrics and tablature
  • Limo ride from ShamRock to the gig at Bardi’s Grill in Pequannock (Courtesy of Travel Limo*)
  • Concert on stage at Bardi’s Grill (or a similar venue) with professional sound & lighting
  • All instrumentation is provided (guitars can be rented for $25 for the length of the program)

Although admission is free for friends and family, all of our concerts serve as a  fundraiser for local causes such as the Pequannock Food Pantry or Flood Relief. Donation amounts are suggested for entry to the show.
ShamRock School of Music CampOnce completing a band program, students may be asked to perform in the future for events such as The Pequannock Street Fair, The Pequannock Ho-Down, Wayne Day, Lincoln Park Day, Summer Concerts at PV Park and other private parties.

Some programs have included rehearsals and performances with world- renowned guest artists like Stu Hamm.  He is an incredible bassist, was nominated for a Grammy, and has performed and recorded with artists such as Steve Vai and Joe Satriani among many others.

Grammy Winning Guitarist and producer, Larry Mitchell performed with our Summer Rock Camp program and has performed on stage and in clinics with students that take lessons at ShamRock.

There is a certain skill level required for different camps. If you're not a current ShamRock student, please call us at 973-839-0100 to schedule an evaluation so we can place you in the best camp for your skill level.
